Penguin Books Celebrates the Launch of Good Morning, Mr Mandela by Zelda la Grange

On the 19th of June 2014, Penguin Books played host to more than 300 guests at the much-anticipated launch of Zelda la Grange’s Good Morning, Mr Mandela and Goeiemôre, mnr. Mandela at The Venue in Melrose Arch.

The event was attended by select members of the media, well-known TV and radio personalities, members of the Mandela family, and also a number of Zelda la Grange’s closest friends and family members.  

Zelda la Grange served Nelson Mandela in various different capacities over the last 19 years. She worked as Typist, Private Secretary, Manager of his office, Spokesperson and Aide-decamp. When he passed away in December 2013, she was employed as his Personal Assistant.  

In Good Morning, Mr Mandela, Zelda la Grange pays tribute to one of the greatest icons of our time.  In addition to sharing some of her most treasured memories about Madiba, she tells of the dramatic transformation in her own life and how she had to challenge everything she once believed in. 

One of the guest speakers at the event, Chief Zwelivelile Mandla Mandela wished Zelda well, “my grandfather is looking down with a big smile. For many years my grandfather relied on your trust and service, Zelda - you are a person of integrity.

"Each and every story about Madiba adds to the richness of his legacy. We are happy that you took the time to share your story about Madiba with us."

In a video message by Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, the Archbishop thanked Zelda for her extraordinary selfless service and said that her utter devotion to Madiba was obvious to anyone.
