Sally Partridge

Sally Partridge is an award-winning novelist and short story writer from Cape Town, South Africa. She is a four-time recipient of the M.E.R Prize for Youth Fiction and former recipient of the South African Literary Award for Youth Literature. Her work has been shortlisted for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize, the Sanlam Prize for Youth Literature, the IBBY Honour List, and the Percy Fitzpatrick Prize.

A passionate campaigner for youth literacy, Sally has contributed to numerous school setwork and text books and is a proud Book Dash contributor, an initiative that aims for every child to own 100 books by the age of five. For her contribution to youth literature, she was named one of Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans in 2011.

Sally is inspired by her travels and the interesting small towns she visits in South Africa. The Witches of Hogsback was inspired by an intriguing visit to Hogsback in the Eastern Cape, a place where magic seems all too real.
