But that hardly matters now – these days, her name graces numerous celebrated books as the illustrator. Over the years, she’s drawn all sorts of things: monsters, princesses, slippers, grannies, elephants, aliens, and yes – roses too. Anja Stoeckigt

Anja Stoeckigt

Anja Stoeckigt is a self-taught illustrator with an appreciation for the peculiar and the everyday beautiful. She is best known for her whimsical, nature-inspired artwork under the name Papertales. When she was a little girl, she would constantly linger in the stationary section of any shop and dream of all the different images she would one day create with these tools. Today, Anja's illustrations celebrate curiosity, kindness, and the quiet magic of everyday life - from fluffy clouds and curious creatures to playful, heartfelt moments. She loves creating quirky characters that children can fall in love with and drawing floating hats on top of wild animals. Picture books are a particular passion of hers and she hopes this comes across with all the little details hidden in its pages. Paper Tales marks Anja's debut as both authors and illustrator, expanding her creative world into a joyful exploration of form, colour, and imagination.
