Chinua Achebe was a prominent and prolific writer, poet, professor and literary critic, renowned for novels that described the effects of Western customs and values on traditional African society. He is best known for Things Fall Apart (1958), a novel that has sold more than ten million copies worldwide and has been translated into more than fifty languages.
