Nicole Mason was born in Johannesburg and still lives there with her husband and two daughters. She studied architecture at the University of the Witwatersrand and worked in the field for many years, designing luxury hotels. Later, she became a university lecturer and earned a PhD in education, focusing on teaching design to neurodivergent students. Nicole loves travel, art, food, ballet, and musical theatre. Her passion for writing began with reading bedtime stories to her children, a family tradition that continued for many years. She enjoys creating exciting and engaging stories that spark young imaginations. The Near Extinction of Oliver Hook is her first fiction book, marking the beginning of her journey as an author.
