From a young age, Ashleigh always knew she wanted to be a teacher. Having struggled with Maths as a child, she developed a deep understanding of how anxiety around the subject can affect a child’s confidence and love of school. Through dedicated teachers and new ways of learning, Ashleigh grew to not only overcome her challenges but to develop a lasting passion for Maths.
After qualifying in 2014 with a Bachelor of Education degree, specialising in High School Mathematics, she discovered that her true calling lay in the Foundation Phase. For the past eight years, she has taught Grade 1 and 2, working within a school that embraces the constructivist approach to learning. Seeing the need for child-centred, hands-on Maths resources inspired her to collaborate on the Tippie does Maths series. This was an opportunity to create meaningful, engaging learning experiences for young children.
