Peter Piegl

About
After obtaining his degree in psychology, Piegl worked as a freelance photographer before embarking on a short stint as a photojournalist at local community newspapers in the South Coast.

Thereafter, he spent just over a decade at SA’s premier men’s lifestyle magazine, FHM. Working his way up from picture editor, Piegl was appointed managing editor before being approached to head up the re-launch of Playboy South Africa. Feeling his editorial vision was being compromised, Piegl resigned after nine months. Two of his covers received international recognition and accolades in various countries.

Post-Playboy, Piegl re-entered the freelance market before joining forces with ex-Teazers marketing manager Sean Newman and eNEWS journalist Karyn Maughan to produce the hugely successful Lolly Jackson: When Fantasy Becomes Reality.

Director John Barker (Bunny Chow, 31 Million Reasons)has optioned the movie rights to document Lolly’s story, which is earmarked for release around 2015.

Piegl’s interest in true-life crime writing is fueled by an intense fascination with the human psyche. Unafraid of courting controversy, Piegl is similarly drawn to characters that flout their self-governance.

Piegl currently works at a Johannesburg-based ad agency.
