Terms and Conditions for LAPA Competition: World Book Day Competition
 
1. This promotional competition ("Competition") is offered by Penguin Random House South Africa (Property) Ltd, registration number 1953/00441/07 ("Promoter").
 
2. This offer may not be used in conjunction with any other offer from the Promoter.
 
3. The competition starts on March 24 and ends on May 10, 2025. All entries must be received by 23:59 (SAST) on May 10, 2025. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any entries that are incomplete, illegible, corrupted, or late for any reason. Entries become the property of the Promoter and will not be returned.
 
4. The competition is open to all persons residing in South Africa, excluding the Promoter's directors, partners, employees, agents, consultants, and their immediate families.
 
5. Participation by all participants ("Participants") implies acceptance of these rules.
 
6. No Participant may win more than 1 (one) prize per competition.
 
7. The prize for the school is LAPA/Penguin books worth R7000, and the individual prize amounts to R2000 worth of LAPA/Penguin books and R1000 cash.
 
8. To participate, Participants must tag the three social media platforms in their post before the closing date. No purchase is necessary to enter the prize draw. Participation in the competition is free. Only 1 (one) entry per person is allowed.
 
9. If any of the above prizes are no longer available, the Promoter may, at its discretion, award another prize of similar value.
 
10. All correct, completed entries will be entered into the competition. The school and individual prizes designated by the judges will be announced as the winners. The name(s) of the winner(s) will be announced within 30 (thirty) working days from the closing date on the Promoter's social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram). The winner will be notified by email within 30 (thirty) working days from the closing date.
 
11. These rules may be amended at any time during the competition by notice.
 
12. The prize is exclusively for the prize winner and is not transferable or exchangeable, and cannot be exchanged for its cash value.
 
13. The winner must claim his/her prize within 30 (thirty) days of winning the prize. If the prize is not claimed after this time, it will expire, and the Promoter reserves the right to offer the unclaimed prize to the runner-up chosen according to these rules. The prize will be delivered to the winner's physical address within 30 (thirty) working days after the winner has provided us with their physical delivery address. If any prize winner's contact details are no longer valid, he/she will forfeit the prize.
 
14. The prize winner must provide valid proof of identification when claiming the prize.
 
15. The Promoter may make media announcements and publish the names and photos of any prize winner(s), provided that any prize winner(s) may expressly refuse.
 
16. The Promoter reserves the right to conduct audits, in respect of any prize winner(s), to verify that they may qualify to win such prize(s).
 
17. All participants and prize winners hereby indemnify the Promoter and its agents against any/all claims for any injury, loss or damages, whether direct, indirect, consequential, or otherwise, arising from any cause whatsoever from their participation in this competition in any way whatsoever.

19. To obtain information about the winners and runners-up, send an email to lapa@lapa.co.za with the name of the competition in the subject line of the email within 4 (four) weeks after the closing date.
 
20. The Promoter will only use any data provided by the participants for the purposes of the competition, unless otherwise stated in the entry details. By participating in this prize draw, all participants give their consent for their personal data to be used by the Promoter for administrative purposes of this prize draw and any other purposes to which the participants have consented.
 
21. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
