Chocolate Milk Tart

by Warren Mendes

from Food Trail South Africa

"There is nothing wrong with the classic melktert, but I’ve given it some decadent treatment, baking it with a chocolate filling. I first cooked this tart as part of one of the magical bush dinners at Madikwe Safari Lodge – and somehow the tart was at home in the bush. The cocoa and cinnamon topping is reminiscent of the deep red earth of the reserve, and after a day on safari with your senses overloaded, I thought the palate should have some fun too!"

Milk Tart Doughnuts

by Karl Tessendorf

from The Good Stuff

"There are a lot of bad doughnuts in South Africa. This is not one of them. Sure, they take some time and finesse, but you’ll never regret the effort. You will need a digital thermometer and piping bag and a large round nozzle."

Milk Tart Swiss Roll

by Lila Lerie

from The Big Tasty Bite

"A traditional South African dessert with a twist – a delicate vanilla sponge filled with sweet milk custard infused with cinnamon and finished off with a coating of icing sugar and cinnamon."

Milk Tart Smoothie Bowl

“This smoothie bowl hits all the right spots. It is creamy because of the xanthan gum, guilt free and keto friendly with only 3.3g net carbs per serving … a win-win situation!”

Melkkos

deur Tiaan Langenegger

uit Onthoukos

“Ons het dikwels op Sondae melkkos in my ouerhuis geëet. Dit is amper so ’n bietjie soos melktert, maar Sondag-melktert …”
