A message from John van de Ruit about Spud 4

This entry was posted on 16 November 2011.

To those who aren't appalled at the thought of another Spud book coming, I bring you good news. There is another Spud book coming. When I say coming, I don't mean coming coming, but rather as a euphemism for "in due course" or "languidly anon."  I have noticed that a number of you have voiced your heartfelt derision at the length of time it has taken for the 4th and final Spud book to emerge. I agree August 2012 sounds like an eternity to wait for publication, but it isn't as long as many of you are making out.

South Africa’s favourite bush cook will be on tour in November, promoting his new book Justin Bonello Cooks…for Friends.

In this book, Justin returns to doing what he does best: rustling up delicious meals, surrounding himself with close friends, and creating wonderful food memories for life.

Try your hand at Biltong, Leek and Asparagus Quiche (as a quick snack maybe?) or whip up Peppercorn Ostrich Fillet and Messy Chocolate & Berry Pie for a dinner party (and impress your friends).

‘Over the last 37 years, I have travelled and surfed many of the world’s best waves and have surfed with many of the world’s greatest surfers. Some very special surfers have a unique connection with the ocean and a sense of how they fit into the universe. I have taken pieces of wisdom from these surfers, and other people, and have used them throughout my surfing life.’  – Shaun Tomson
